It is clearly slower than the DP display and then of course, the PC will always make the slowest connection the default initial. I think (crunch) the reason for the data which you need visible to you, is going to the other display, is because of its default resolution. until their opening default is changed, will open up in the other display, the Main one.Īnd below, is asterisked as my primary display. HOWEVER, all new dialog boxes, programs starting up, etc. I have that selected as my Primary Display, so it shows my desktop, tool bar etc. When I currently hit Display ID, my desktop computer monitor shows #2. "Main" is where dialog boxes default to open (until they have been opened, manually moved over to the other display, then closed - thereby changing their "open-next-time-in-window #x" setting. "Primary" (Aka #1) is where your desktop is located.
In Windows 10 (or 7), these terms (as taken off the Windows settings dialogs), are NOT the same. I am trying to select which display device is "Main". I am NOT trying to select which display device is "Primary" (IE: #1 of 2). This is a very difficult problem to describe. THEN just right click the monitor you want to be Primary and choose: Make Primary Choose set up multiple displays, and check both boxes, click Apply and answer YES. I need my DP connected "Monitor" to be the #1.
Then I added a TV via HDMI, and my graphics card automatically set the system up with two monitors, (so far, so good), but then I see it designated the TV as the Primary (#1) display. More details: I have my desktop monitor connected via DisplayPort, and it works fine. When a new dialog box is opened, when a new program starts, when the Settings menus open up, they all open up on the primary (#1) display, which it has set as my TV.
My problem is that the system auto-designated my TV as #1, leaving my desktop monitor #2.
I understand Settings / Display / Rearrange your Display in how to swap #1 and #2, with regard to the two desktops, and how to re-arrange them left to right etc for border management. What you will now want to do is match the small numbers in the order of your big numbers that are on your 3 monitorsĩ) Now you should be ready to select the magic button at the bottom of your Nvidia Control Panel called Enable Surroundġ0) Once this has been done you are good to go, simply close the open Nvidia Control Panel windows and you can now use your computer across multiple monitors. How can I swap which physical display is designated the Main Display? You will notice that there are large numbers located on your 3 monitors, you will also notice that there are small numbers located in Nvidia Control Panel windowīut using left click you can drag these small numbers around. 1920 is the common resolution for a monitor so therefore you will want it to be 5760 if you have 3 monitors.Ĩ) Now that you have done the past steps we must now configure the order of the screens. When having a 3-monitor display you will want this to say 5760 x 1080 the number 5760 comes from 1920 x 3. Under the Displays box please also make sure all your screens are selected.ħ) Under the category Resolution you will see a dropdown called Resolution I will be selecting my Topology as 1 x 2, If you are using 3 monitors you will select 1 x 3. (I will be demonstrating this with two screens, I will also be explaining how this is done with three)Ħ) In the first category you will see Displays, this will be where we select the displays we want to show as well as if you want your screens displayed vertically or horizontally, I will be showing this example horizontally. This will need to be done to complete the setup.ĥ) A screen will then show up like the following, this will allow us to now setup which screens we want to show what. This may sound complicated but when you follow these steps below it makes it a lot easier than it sounds.ġ) Open up Nvidia Control Panel this can be found by right-clicking your desktopĢ) On the left you will see a list of options, under the 3D Settings tab select Configure Surround, PhysXģ) In the box Surround Configuration tick the box Span Displays with Surround.Ĥ) Once this has been done then select configure, a box will appear that will ask you to close programs and click continue.
To set this up you must use a program called Nvidia Control Panel. Today lots of gaming setups will use 2 or more screens, especially racing simulators to get a more realistic experience of the game across multiple monitors.
